A voice endpoint sends inbound calls for your cloudnumbering numbers to your SIP platform.
Before you start
Have the public SIP URI for your PBX or switch.
Create the endpoint
- Go to Number Management > Endpoints.
- Select Create Endpoint.
- Enter an Endpoint Name.
- Set Endpoint Type to Voice.
- Enter the destination in Hostname.
- Keep the
sip:prefix. - Include a number-format placeholder in the SIP user, for example

- Keep the
- Choose any default or failover behavior you need.
- Use as Default Endpoint? makes this the default for new assignments. It does not change numbers that already have an endpoint.
- Use as Failover/Secondary Endpoint? makes it available as a secondary voice endpoint. With this ticked, the default option is labelled Use as Default Secondary Endpoint? instead.
- Select Create Endpoint.
Assign the endpoint to a number
- Go to Number Management > Number Inventory.
- Select the number you want to route.
- Choose the endpoint under Primary Voice Endpoint.
- Turn on Enabled for voice.
- To add failover routing, choose a Secondary Voice Endpoint.
- Select Save.
What happens next
Inbound calls to the number are routed to the primary SIP URI. If one is assigned, the secondary voice endpoint is available for a single failover attempt when the primary call attempt is eligible for retry.
Troubleshooting
I cannot create the endpoint
Check that Endpoint Name is unique and 100 characters or fewer, and that Hostname starts with sip:. The endpoint name must contain only letters, numbers, and spaces, and the complete SIP URI must be 255 characters or fewer.
The endpoint exists, but calls do not reach it
Open the number in Number Inventory. Confirm that Primary Voice Endpoint shows the expected endpoint, Enabled is on, and you selected Save after making the change.
The wrong number format reaches my PBX
Change the placeholder in Hostname. See Formatting numbers in SIP endpoints.
