Porting numbers
Use Porting to request and track supported numbers moving into or away from cloudnumbering. This article covers the portal workflow. To automate port-in, port-out, or status tracking, see Port numbers with API v1.1.
Before you start
Porting is available to organisation administrators. Porting in requires an eligible organisation, an available contract, a UK mobile number in +447 format, and a valid PAC code.
Warning: Do not disconnect a number that you want to port out. A completed port-out removes it from your cloudnumbering account.
Request a port-in
- Sign in to the cloudnumbering portal.
- Go to Number Management > Porting.
- Under Porting in, select Request port-in.
- Enter the Number and PAC code.
- To add up to ten numbers, select Add another and enter a PAC for each number.
- Select the Expected port date and Contract.
- Select Next.
- Review the numbers, date, contract, charges, and available balance.
- If the balance is too low, select Top up balance, then start the request again.
- Select Confirm.
Note: The requested date must be a UK weekday. It is an expected date, not confirmation that the transfer will complete on that date.
Note: If the portal shows Port-in unavailable, close the message and contact support. Do not buy a replacement number or disconnect the number you want to move.
Request a PAC to port out
- Go to Number Management > Porting.
- Select Porting out.
- Select Request PAC.
- Search for and select each number you want to port out.
- Select Next.
- Review the numbers and select Confirm.
Track a port
- Go to Number Management > Porting.
- Select Porting in or Porting out.
- Search for the number or filter by Status.
- Check the current outcome and any action required.
What happens next
A submitted request appears in the matching porting list. Keep the number and its existing service active until the port completes.
When a port-in completes, check Number Inventory, assign the required endpoints, and test the number. When a port-out completes, the number is removed from your cloudnumbering account.
Troubleshooting
My number or PAC is rejected. Enter a UK mobile number in +447 format and the PAC in the format shown by the portal. Check that the PAC belongs to that number and has not expired.
The expected date is changed. The portal accepts UK weekdays from the next working day onwards. Choose the corrected date before continuing.
I cannot see Porting. Only organisation administrators can open Porting. Ask an administrator in your organisation to submit or track the request.
A port is delayed or needs action. Open the request and check its status. If the portal gives no action you can take, contact support with the number and current status.
